Reflection Term 2 2021
My Favorite: Making the models because i like making models and it was a good challenge.
My Second Favorite: The end of term 2 because i could have a 2 week break and play my favorite game.
My Biggest Challenge: The bridal path because uphill was steep and tiring while downhill was hard for me to stop myself from falling.

My argument
It was bad for the Europeans to come to NZ because:
Diseases:
Wars
Treaty of waitangi trick
The Actual Thing
Diseases: When Europeans first arrived in New Zealand Māori had no immunity against many of the virulent diseases they brought with them. Some of the worst diseases, such as yellow fever, cholera, malaria and typhus, never arrived. Smallpox and plague were quickly contained on the rare occasions they were identified.
NZ wars: Many Taranaki Māori opposed land sales, and fighting began in 1860 over a disputed land purchase at Waitara. The British army and Pākehā settlers fought local Māori until March 1861. In 1865 there were battles in South Taranaki, and Major-General Trevor Chute led troops around Mt Taranaki, destroying Māori villages.
Treaty of waitangi trick: In the English text, Māori leaders gave the Queen 'all the rights and powers of sovereignty' over their land. In the Māori text, Māori leaders gave the Queen 'te kawanatanga katoa' or the complete government over their land. The word 'sovereignty' had no direct translation in Māori.

School lunches
I do like some school lunches and dont particularly think some other school lunches are good but the sad thing is lots of people dont even want to try them. EVEN MORE THAN HALF THE CLASS IN FACT! I know some people who have just had a school lunch once and then they have never eaten another just 1 lunch not 1 of each.
Bridle Path
Why We Went: To feel how hard it was for the Europeans to come to Christchurch over the port hills.
What We Did: We walked up it, obviously and checked out 2 bunkers from world war 2. At the top me and a few others acted like we were defending the hill form Japanese soldiers.
How I Felt: Really tired walking up the hill because it was steep. Once we were having morning tea the wind was annoying me because it was blowing my bag away.
How Hard I Think It Was For The Europeans: probably really hard because they were cooped up on the ship for 3 months. We had fancy sneakers and just had to carry water and food while they had not as strong shoes and had to carry all the belongings they had.
What The Hardest Bit Was For Me: The walk uphill because It was 65 degrees not in heat.
How I Felt When I Reached The Top: really successful and resilient.

My Term 2 2021 Inquiry
What we made: Me and jasper made an gold mining model which did turn out very good looking. Jasper had to make the slab hut at his house. We had an tree stump with an axe in it, 3 logs in an pile, trees, goats, beer bottles, a musket and an house.
How we made it: We used play mobile and small tree prunings. We used a little help from Jakob. The most funny things we had were 4 beer jugs.
What we did well: Considering me and Jasper are best friends we worked quite well and we wrote a decent speech. I think overall the general construction of the mining model went really well.
What to work on:Maybe speed we did have only 1 week to actually write the speech and build. But just try to work a tiny bit faster.
